Last Wednesday, February 9th, JETAA Hawaii joined up with JAIMS (Japan-America Institute of Management Science) for happy hour drinks at Gordon Biersch at Aloha Tower. Japan-America Institute of Management Science, or JAIMS, is a non-profit educational institute based in Hawaii Kai where students can prepare for a business-oriented career with a focus on the Pacific Rim. JAIMS co-partners with UH Manoa’s School of Business for the JEMBA (Japan-focused MBA) program that culminates with an internship in Japan that many JAIMS students participate in. Quite a few JET alumni also enroll in JAIMS, as well.
Members of each group relaxed over pupus and drinks while chatting, most being able to relate to one another through some similar experience from living in Japan. As a JET alumni, it was interesting to learn about the internships and work opportunities that the JAIM alumni have been through. We at JETAA Hawaii all had a great time meeting everyone from JAIMS and hope to pair up with JAIMS for more events in the future!
If you are interested to learn more about JAIMS or the JEMBA program, please e-mail us at jetaahawaii@gmail.com and we will put you in contact with someone who can give you more information.
