19th Annual Honolulu AIDS Walk

An estimated 4,000 participants helped to raise over $165,000 to support the Life Foundation at the 19th annual Honolulu AIDS Walk held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Kapiolani Park! Team JETAA Hawaii was part of this successful event, surpassing our fundraising goal by raising over $700 in sponsorships and recruiting 13 members (11 walkers)!

It was an early morning for the team, meeting at Registration near the Waikiki Band Stand at 7:45 a.m. A local cheerleading squad pumped us up at the starting line at 9:00 a.m. where we began our walk around Kapiolani Park with the stampede. By the time we got to the finish line, we were already discussing lunch at around 10 a.m. Luckily the volunteers were handing out water, fruit, chips, energy drinks, and rub-on tattoos to sustain us! Since food was still on our mind, we headed straight to Tiki’s Grill & Bar for lunch (brunch?) and were one of their first groups of the day. With satisfied stomachs and semi-tired legs, we called it a day and went our separate ways, some of us sporting the “I walked” tattoos around Waikiki.  Click here for pics of the tattoos and other AIDS Walk photos.

A special thanks and otsukare to Team JETAA Hawaii: Krystle, Olivia, Dori, Kori-Jo, Davin, Jenny, Kelsey, Joyce, Darryl, Bartek, Jeffrey, Lindsey, and Reid. Thank you also to the Life Foundation for putting on this great event, and to Tiki’s Grill & Bar for the nourishment!
